DECEMBER 19th – The Vault
Join us for some Christmas Cheer as the DREMA Dems Coalition celebrates another holiday season together. Bring some friends – no speechifying, lecturing or proselytizing – just some good old fashioned fun. So mark your calendar for December 19th and join the fun at the newly converted Vault on Hale Street.
The Vault is just one of many new bars and restaurants being opened by area entrepreneurs. This new nightclub once housed the West Virginia Diamond Exchange – a girl's best friend. Our Christmas Cheer night will be catered by the newly opened South Hills Market & Café.

December 15th, the Kanawha Valley Labor Council and all affiliated Unions will once again be ringing bells for the Salvation Army from 10 am to 8 pm. Most Unions have already made the commitment to ring bells. If you wish to volunteer to ring the bell, please contact your local union officers.
If your local union does not have an established station and you wish to participate, please call MIKE MATTHEWS at 343-6952 as soon as possible.
Thanking you in advance for your dedication to this worthy cause and wishing you the best for the holiday season.
Human Rights Watch, an internationally recognized watchdog organization, studied what happens to workers in the United States who try to form unions. The group found we've got a fundamental human rights issue on our hands.
And the International Labor Organization has said the United States is out of compliance with internationally recognized workers' rights standards.
This week, hundreds of the world's labor leaders are gathering in Washington, D.C., at the first-ever global organizing forum addressing this very issue—how to uphold workers' rights to form unions worldwide, including right here in the United States.
Our system has to be changed to give all working people the freedom to make their own choice about whether to have a union and bargain for better wages and benefits. The Employee Free Choice Act would do just that.
Adopt a Precinct Today
Help win 10,000 key precincts in 2008 and put an end to Republican rule in Washington. Can you adopt a precinct today for $20 a month, from now through the election? |
In 2000 the presidential election came down to the recount in Florida; in 2004 Bush won Ohio by fewer than 10 votes per precinct. It will likely come down to a few key precincts again in 2008.
That's why our electoral program is based on neighbor-to-neighbor organizing at the precinct level in battleground states . So we're launching a new "adopt-a-precinct" program to ensure that we win 10,000 key precincts in 2008.
For $20 a month, between now and Election Day you can help MoveOn members in that neighborhood identify every progressive voter who might not vote without a reminder—and get them to the polls. You'll pay for help from a field organizer, a tested campaign message, new tech tools, a targeted voter list, and a handful of trained volunteers. Your support will help put an end to Republican rule in Washington. Click above to adopt your precinct.

"The CIA videotaped its interrogations of two top terror suspects in 2002 and destroyed the tapes three years later out of fear they would leak to the public and compromise the identities of U.S. questioners, the director of the agency told employees Thursday." Likely story. They could have distorted the identities of the CIA operatives. They didn't want the torture to be shown. Could have served as proof that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld are war criminals. 12/7
