House Committee staff just sent word that the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (H.R.2831) will be on the floor of the House for a vote tonight. Please call your Representatives right away and tell them to VOTE YES on H.R. 2831 to correct the injustice caused in the recent Supreme Court Decision in Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. This decision greatly limited the ability of women to sue for wage discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
Also, please call and email your friends and family and urge them to call their Representatives today.

George W. Bush, whose father was often accused of being too cautious and incremental by conservatives, came into office six years ago with an ambition to remake nearly everything about American government. In some cases, like Social Security and immigration, he hasn't been able to get the big changes he wanted. In others—Iraq, tax cuts, civil liberties, the environment, education—it seems clear that his successor, whoever it will be, will have to spend a good deal of time undoing what was supposed to have been Bush's legacy. But the President has achieved one wholesale change that will likely endure for a generation: the construction of a distinctly right-wing Supreme Court.

In the next two days, the House of Representatives is expected to vote on legislation that would require utilities to generate 20% of our electricity from clean, renewable sources like wind and solar power. The vote is looking like it will come right down to the wire.
With energy prices spiking and global warming threatening the planet, we need to take action to make America more energy independent. By setting a minimum renewable electricity standard, we can cut global warming pollution, save consumers money, and create jobs.
You can help by calling your Representatives to urge them to vote for the renewable electricity standard. If you don't know who your representative is, that's OK. Just call the Congressional switchboard at 202-224-3121, tell the operator where you live, and they will connect you.

A Word About Hillary Clinton
I don't want to sound too optimistic – all the Democratic candidates are good and no matter who is nominated, I'll vote Democrat – but I must say Hillary Clinton hit a home run in Charleston. I can't speak for any of you but I've been waiting for the Dems to speak quietly and specifically about their plans to restore us to the benevolent Democracy we were proud to call our own. She wasn't gonna ‘stand up to anyone' or ‘fight' but she did let audiences know her best thinking. We'll see but I'm sure glad I got to hear her in person. I'm proud to be a Democrat.
